Structural Vibration Analysis and Validation

0

Most structures are subjected to vibrations caused by dynamic loads due to machines, vehicles, wind, earthquake, sea waves or tsunami. Very commonly, the vibrations need to be looked into either because the vibrations cause catastrophic loss to lives or properties or because the structures have to comply with standard or test specifications. Whatever the reasons are, the structural response needs to be quantified somehow so that its implication on factors such as safety and performance can be evaluated.

Experimental and analytical approaches are used for investigating the structural response. Very often, experimental modal analysis (EMA), operational modal analysis (OMA) and the finite element method (FEM) are widely adopted for the investigation.

LMS Test Lab, which is one of the powerful products, is widely used by researchers and engineers to carry out EMA and OMA. LMS Test Lab is a complete, integrated solution for test-based engineering. Combining high-speed multi-channel data acquisition with a full suite of integrated testing, analysis, and report-generation tools is ideal for testing departments that need to be future-focused: offering the right balance between ease-of-use and functional flexibility. In addition, LMS Test Lab significantly increases a test facility’s productivity, delivering more reliable results even when the availability of prototypes is dramatically reduced.

On the FEM based simulations, MSC NASTRAN, with over 50 years of real-world experience in structural FEA, is the industry standard for structural analysis simulation. MSC Nastran is one of the preferable commercial software packages used by researchers and engineers. MSC NASTRAN is a multidisciplinary structural analysis application to perform static and vibration analysis across the linear and nonlinear domains. MSC Nastran is based on sophisticated numerical methods, the most prominent being the Finite Element Method. Nonlinear FE problems may be solved with built-in implicit numerical techniques. Several optimization algorithms are available. In addition, MSC Nastran advantages:

Multidisciplinary Structural Analysis

Structural Assembly Modelling

Automated Structural Optimization

High-Performance Computing

Good Customer Service
